Ossia Partners With Dropcam Founder to Bring Wireless Power Into the Home

At Ossia, our mission is to enrich human lives by freeing devices from batteries and wires. To that end, we are working hard to create a world where wireless power is effortless, available and abundant.

Ossia is pleased to announce a partnership with Greg Duffy, a leader in connected home devices, to help Ossia commercialize its Real Wireless PowerTM for the Smart Home ecosystem. As Founder and CEO of Dropcam, Duffy brought to market an award-winning Wi-Fi video camera and cloud service for monitoring the home, children, and pets. At the time of its acquisition by Google, Dropcam was the most successful connected home product on the market, combining a consumer-friendly mobile app with sophisticated hardware and a cloud video service that processed more video than YouTube.  Following Dropcam’s acquisition, Duffy led groups at Google and then at Apple, helping both companies commercialize cutting-edge products and technologies.

“One of the biggest challenges for designing connected home devices has been working within the existing set of power constraints, whether it was architecting devices to operate with batteries that run on limited power, or developing products that rely on wires that are in many cases inconvenient and impractical,” says Greg Duffy.  “Ossia’s best-in-class Cota technology is one of the true game changers out there that will fundamentally transform the way that consumer technology is deployed in the home. I am looking forward to partnering with Ossia to change the landscape of in-home IoT.”

“We are beyond excited to bring Greg on board as a strategic advisor and investor,” says Preston Woo, Chief Strategy Officer of Ossia. “His experience and expertise are unparalleled in the smart home space, and his many notable accomplishments at Dropcam, Google, and Apple speak for themselves. Without a doubt, Ossia’s partnership with Greg will help accelerate our mutual vision of the smart, connected home.”

In addition to taking on a strategic advisory position, Duffy is also an investor in Ossia through The Duffy Organization, a public-benefit company dedicated to improving the future by making luxurious lifestyles sustainable and affordable.
